Modern clean laundries: Wash & Dry

In Pattaya, for many years, washing machines have been common, located right on the street, where you can wash your clothes for a small fee (usually 30-40 baht).

These are ordinary, often not very clean, washing machines without a full drying function.

In recent years, a new type of self-service laundry has become widespread in Pattaya. They have clean washing machines and machines for completely drying clothes.

They look like this.

While waiting for the wash to finish, you can sit at a table and work or do your other things.

Also, usually on the territory of laundries there are machines for exchanging money for coins that can be used in washing machines.

And here you will find vending machines for detergent and fabric softener.

What is especially pleasant, the cost of washing in these modern laundromats is not much higher than washing in ordinary washing machines on the street.

How to use Wash & Dry Laundromats

Preparing for washing

If you do not have coins (usually 10 baht coins are accepted), then you can use the machine to change bills into 10 baht coins. You can also exchange 1, 2 and 5 baht coins for 10 baht coins.

If you do not have detergent and fabric softener, then you can buy it all right on the territory of the Laundromat in special vending machines.

Also, if you need, you can buy a laundry bag.

You will need to choose which water temperature to wash your clothes in – you can check the labels on your clothes beforehand to select the right temperature.

Finally, you will need to decide on a washing machine according to the weight of your laundry.

Wash

1. Load the laundry into the washing machine, close and latch the door.

Note:

• washing machines are usually decorated with blue stripes and inscriptions, or are marked as “Washer”.
• tumble dryers are usually decorated with red stripes and lettering, or are labeled “Dryer”.

2. Add detergent and fabric softener.

Note: containers for them are marked with the corresponding inscriptions on washing machines

3. Select the water temperature from: Cold, Warm, and Hot.

4. Insert the appropriate number of coins or lean on the card if the washing machine supports this payment method.

5. Press the START button.

Note:

• Cold water: for lightly soiled clothes (normal mode)
• Warm water: for moderately soiled clothes (recommended mode)
• Hot water: for heavily soiled clothes (make sure that the inscriptions on the labels allow washing clothes in hot water)

Drying

1. Load the laundry into the dryer, close and lock the door.

2. Select drying temperature.

3. Insert the appropriate number of coins or lean on the card if the dryer supports this payment method.

4. Press the START button.

Tips for using dryer and extra drying time for clothes:

1. Check your clothes 10 minutes before the end of the drying cycle.

2. Open the door and remove dry clothes. Leave damp clothes in the dryer.

Note: Drying will automatically STOP when the door is opened.

3. You can continue drying according to the amount of clothes that are still damp.

Note: Extra drying time coins are NOT refundable if not used.

4. Close the door and press the START button.

Drying temperatures:

• Warm (38°-40° C). For clothes labeled dry on “low heat”
• Medium (50°-60° C). For sheets, t-shirts, etc.
• Hot (60°-70° C). For 100% cotton clothing: socks, towels, jeans, etc.
