How to register for PromptPay at Bangkok Bank

To understand why you need PromptPay, start your acquaintance with the article “What is PromptPay and how to use it in Thailand”.

Registering for PromptPay at Bangkok Bank

Open the BualuangM (Bangkok Bank mobile banking) mobile app.

Go to the “More” section.

Scroll down the screen.

In the “Other services” section, find the “PromptPay” item. Go into it.

When you opened a bank account, you had to provide your phone number. If this phone number has not yet been used in PromptPay in other banks, then you will see the following window with the “Register” button.

If your phone number is already registered in PromptPay with a different bank account, then you will see a message about this similar to the screenshot below. However, the “Register” button is still present, since you can enter any other phone number.

Read the terms of use.

Click the “Accept” button.

Enter the phone number you want to link to PromptPay. Or select the number that you indicated when opening a bank account. Click the “Next” button.

Select the bank account for which you want to enable PromptPay. Click the “Next” button.

Wait until you receive the Registration Code in an SMS message to the phone number you want to link to PromptPay and enter it.

On the next window, you will be prompted to enable “PayAlert” and “PromptPay International” – set the settings that suit you.

Check the information and click the “Confirm” button.

While trying to sign up for PromptPay at Bangkok Bank, I encountered the following error:

Unable to proceed

You are unable to register this service. For assistance, please call us at 1333 or +66 (0) 2645 5555. (AH20)

I was unable to solve the error on my own and I contacted the bank branch to register PromptPay.

You can also contact the bank, or call any of the indicated phone numbers.

In my case, I came to the bank branch, brought with me the following:

  1. Phone with Bangkok Bank mobile app
  2. The phone in which the SIM card is inserted to the number of which I wanted to register PromptPay
  3. PassBook
  4. Passport

Everything was needed.

A bank employee tried a couple of times to register with PromptPay using the application. Then she tried to explain to me that foreigners cannot use PromptPay. Then she registered me in PromptPay using a computer.

How to check PromptPay registration status with Bangkok Bank

Open the BualuangM (Bangkok Bank mobile banking) mobile app.

Go to the “More” section.

Scroll down the screen.

In the “Other services” section, find the “PromptPay” item. Go into it.

Here you will see PromptPay registration status, PromptPay bank account number and phone number associated with it.

Open the BualuangM (Bangkok Bank mobile banking) mobile app.

Go to the “More” section.

Scroll down the screen.

In the “Other services” section, find the “PromptPay” item. Go into it.

Click the Trash can icon to unregister with PromptPay.

How to enable or disable PayAlert in Bangkok Bank

Open the BualuangM (Bangkok Bank mobile banking) mobile app.

Go to the “More” section.

Scroll down the screen.

In the “Other services” section, find the “PromptPay” item. Go into it.

Here you will see the status, you can enable or disable PayAlert.

How to enable or disable PromptPay International in Bangkok Bank

Open the BualuangM (Bangkok Bank mobile banking) mobile app.

Go to the “More” section.

Scroll down the screen.

In the “Other services” section, find the “PromptPay” item. Go into it.

Here you will see the status, you can enable or disable PromptPay International.
