Baiyoke Observation Deck is an observation deck on the 84th floor with a moving platform that makes a full circle and provides a 360° view of Bangkok.
Another feature of Baiyoke Observation Deck is the highest bar in Bangkok.
Baiyoke Observation Deck is not the highest observation platform of Bangkok, but, in my opinion, it is the most spectacular viewpoint.
At the same time, the price of visiting Baiyoke Observation Deck is two times lower than a similar observation platform on a skyscraper.
What is Baiyoke Sky and Baiyoke Observation Deck
The Baiyoke Sky building is first and foremost a hotel.
And Baiyoke Observation Deck is an observation deck on top of the building. To be more precise, the ticket to the Baiyoke Observation Deck includes a visit to several floors – this will be discussed below.
I do not know whether hotel guests can visit the observation deck for free – if you wish, you can find out for yourself. But if you only want to visit the Baiyoke Observation Deck, then you do not have to be a hotel guest, you just need to buy an entrance ticket.
Highlights of the Baiyoke Observation Deck
So, the height of the building is 309 meters – this is as if 182 people stood on top of each other.
In total, you will need to go from the bottom to the top 2060 steps, which will take more than 1 hour.
In total, the building has 1740 windows – this would be enough for more than 200 townhouses.
The piles go to a depth of 65 meters, which corresponds to a building 22 stories high.
The area inside the building is 179,400 square meters, which is about 30 stadiums.
How much does it cost to visit Baiyoke Observation Deck
A visit to Baiyoke Observation Deck costs 450 baht per person. This price includes a free drink at the highest bar in Bangkok. Moreover, I would like to draw special attention to the fact that you can choose any drink, including a cocktail, including an alcoholic drink or cocktail.
Note: the cost of visiting a similar observation point at the top of the King Power Mahanakhon skyscraper is twice as expensive. Moreover, I liked Baiyoke Observation Deck more than King Power Mahanakhon. That is, if you cannot visit both places, then I would recommend Baiyoke Observation Deck.
Where is Baiyoke Observation Deck located. How to get to Baiyoke Observation Deck
Coordinates of Baiyoke Observation Deck: 13.757803,100.5265101
Baiyoke Observation Deck on the map: go.
The nearest BTS station is Phaya Thai, this is the light green line (Sukhumvit). From the metro (Sky Train), you can walk – there are pedestrian paths above the roadway (Sky Walk), as well as convenient sidewalks. Or you can take a taxi from the metro.
The building in the center of the frame with the inscription “The Icon Group” is Baiyoke Sky.
What is included in the price of visiting Baiyoke Observation Deck
1. The ascent on the elevator with a glass wall is a very emotional and, frankly, a little frightening experience 🙂🛗🏙️😱🫣
2. The elevator arrives at the 77th floor. This is a circular observation deck. Here you can see the city through the glass. There are different funny objects inside the room – something like a small exhibition.
3. Then you need to take the elevator to the 83rd floor to the Roof Top Bar. A very cozy place. Here you will get your free drink and can enjoy it with a view of Bangkok.
4. Walk up to the 84th floor. There is a platform that moves in a circle. The platform makes a full rotation in just over 8 minutes. Here are the most breathtaking views of the city.
There is no time limit – you can enjoy the views as much as you want.
Impressions from the Baiyoke Observation Deck
The only truly scary thing was in the elevator during the ascent. The elevator is outside the building and has a transparent wall – that is, you could watch how you rose higher and higher from the ground. It was an indescribable feeling!
It is great that the observation decks are circular – each direction has its own different view. For example, it can be a view of highways that stretch into the distance like ribbons with tiny cars moving along them. Or it can be a dense development of high-rise buildings – a surreal, implausible view: it seems that you are looking at a picture where someone has drawn an imaginary future and at the same time overdone it. In some places you can see large green spaces – parks and squares. And in others you can see shacks.
How do we see skyscrapers when we are on the ground? Personally, I find it difficult to estimate the actual height and it is not always easy to say which building is the tallest – it just seems that there are low buildings and very tall ones. And only when you find yourself on the tallest building you do understand how much the height of buildings and skyscrapers differs. But even huge skyscrapers begin to seem like small buildings if they are lower than where you are.
By the way, mountains are perceived in a similar way – from below it seems that all the mountains are the same. And only after climbing the highest one, the difference becomes clear. And at the same time, other, lower mountains begin to be perceived as tiny hills.
I already wrote about this feeling when I climbed the mountain at Ramkhamhaeng National Park, look at the photos at the link below and you will understand everything.
For details, see the article Ramkhamhaeng National Park – the most beautiful views from the mountain and the most difficult hiking route in Thailand
All this can be explained from the point of view of perspective and dense development of fairly high buildings, but in the end the following rule remains: moving around the city, the tallest building will be more often visible (more often fall into the field of view), but at the same time in height it will seem the same as the other buildings.
The highest observation deck Baiyoke Observation Deck moves in a circle – you can stay in place and see Bangkok at 360°. Of course, you can walk along this area if you are not happy with the speed of movement. Or walk in the opposite direction to the movement – to admire the views in the same direction. In general, complete freedom of choice. 😄
The bar had a lot of free seats, a pleasant relaxing atmosphere and good music. I think it would be unforgettable to spend a date here or just an evening in the pleasant company of a girlfriend or friends. I liked watching the tiny cars on the roads, which look like ants from here.
Video from Baiyoke Observation Deck and Roof Top Bar
This is a video from the 84th floor of Baiyoke Observation Deck – the observation deck makes a full circle.
And this is a video from the Roof Top Bar.
Almost all the tables in this bar are located along the windows. There is a lounge area with comfortable sofas.
In general, a very pleasant and relaxed atmosphere.
Conclusion
I liked it! Even so: I really liked it!!!
In terms of spectacle, Baiyoke Observation Deck is my favorite place in Bangkok.
I can easily imagine that I will come back here again. Maybe as a hotel guest. Maybe to stay longer at the bar and relax in a pleasant atmosphere. Maybe I will just come on a tour like the first time, but, for example, at sunset or even after sunset, to admire the city at night.
By the way, I also visited King Power Mahanakhon (the highest observation deck in Bangkok) and there I also managed to feel the vibe of this place. I liked it there too and one of the upcoming articles will be dedicated to this place. Stay in touch!
