Pattaya has a highly developed car rental market with many competing car rental companies. Many salons are characterized by the presence of new cars. Most of the fleet of vehicles was produced in the last 1-3 years. Many companies offer free car delivery, insurance included in the rental price, free GPS child seat, 24/7 support and other additional services.

As a general rule, to rent a car in Thailand, you need only two documents: an international passport and a driver's license. As a driver's license, both a national document and an international driver's license are accepted. This applies to car rental companies, the Thai traffic police have different rules: they only accept international driving licenses or Thai driving licenses. Thus, you can rent a car without an international driving license, but you can still be fined for driving without a license.

The deposit is usually 5000 baht, this money is returned if you return the car on time and in the same condition in which you rented it.

The cost of renting a car may include insurance – specific conditions, as well as what actions should be taken in an insured event, find out at the car rental salon.

Also note, if you are planning an international trip, then you will not be able to do this in a rental car, even if the salon does not mention this. The fact is that you can only go abroad in Thailand in a car that is in your ownership, it is impossible to leave in a rental car.

Renting a car is not a cheap pleasure: for short-term rentals, its cost is from 1000 baht per day, for long-term rentals from 500 baht per day. If this is expensive for you, then consider renting a motorbike instead of a car.

You will most likely choose a car rental service based not on proximity to home, but on the offer you like the most. In addition, many car rental companies have a car delivery service to your home.

Alliance PRO Car for Rent

The Alliance PRO Car for Rent car rental salon is located at the intersection of Pattaya 3rd Rd and Thappraya Rd (next to the flyover). This is the South Pattaya area at the junction with Phra Tamnak.

Driver requirements:

• Minimum driver age 21
• You must have an International Driving License (IDP) or a national driving license with you
• Driving experience at least 1 year

Requirements for getting a car:

• Driver's License (IDP) or national driver's license
• The passport

When renting a car for less than 9 days, there is a mileage limit of 150 km/day. The cost of additional kilometers is paid: 2 baht/km. Note: The included mileage is multiplied by the number of days. Example: Rent for 8 days, 8 × 150 = 1.200 km – included mileage for 8 days of rent. From 8 to 30 days without limit mileage (but not more than 4.500 km).

Please note that this salon does not require you to have an International Driving Permit, but the Thai traffic police can fine you for not having an International Driving Permit.

Operation is allowed only within the kingdom.

Take it Easy Car & Bike Rental

A car and motorcycle rental shop located between 2nd Road and Soi Buakhao, close to Central Festival. If you drive along 2nd Road (one-way street), then between Soi 8 (left) and Soi 7 (right) there will be a turn to the right, this is the bifurcating Soi New Pl. When driving along it towards Soi Buakhao, in the place where two lanes of the street merge into one, you will see Take it Easy Car & Bike Rental on the left side.

In fact, it is not so easy to see a car and motorbike rental salon (I have been there dozens of times and did not see it until I specifically started looking), because this place is overflowing with bars and their hospitable inhabitants.

Requirements for renting a car:

Drive Car Rental Pattaya

Drive Car Rental is a company that offers cars for rent in several regions of Thailand.

The Drive Car Rental Pattaya office is located next to North Pattaya Rd, about 200 meters from the roundabout with dolphins (by the way, there is now not quite a roundabout – the road has been changed a little).

A foreigner needs to show an international passport and a driver's license.

For rentals with FP and FPP insurance, the deposit is only 5,000 baht for a car with an engine capacity of 1.2-1.6 cc. cm and 15,000 baht for a car with an engine capacity of 2.0-3.0 cc.

Free car delivery and pick-up service when renting a car for 3 days or more (no further than 20 kilometers).

Available for short term, monthly, and longer term rentals. The longer the rental period, the cheaper in terms of one day.

When renting for periods less than 1 month, the rental price increases if you want to receive a car in the coming days or weeks – for this reason, the rental price below may differ from the one you see on the website or in the office of the company. Some cars were unavailable at the time of writing this article, so there are gaps in the table below – this does not mean that daily rental of these cars is impossible, just at the time of the check the car was unavailable (most likely rented to someone).

Large car rental shop with cars available. Located in Jomtien on Jomtien Second Rd.

The minimum age for renting a car is 18 years old.

Documents required for car rental: original passport and driver's license.

For Thai citizens: credit card, ID card, driver's license.

Do I need an international driving license to rent a car?

Enough national driving license to rent a car from MAKS Car Rental. These driving license is valid for an insurance company that insures cars. However, the Thai Traffic Police considers only an international driving license of the appropriate category or a Thai driving license to be acceptable. If you do not have them, then the Thai traffic police considers that you are driving a vehicle without a license and may fine you for this.

Do I need to have a credit card to rent a car?

Credit card required for Thai citizens only.

Citizens of other countries do not need to have a credit card to rent a car at this shop.

You can pay the rent and deposit with a credit card if you wish. There is a 3% surcharge when paying by credit card.

The rental price includes: car rental, insurance, additional driver, GPS, special child seat.

Not included in the car rental price: additional services, the cost of gasoline, paid parking, fines.

The cost of renting a car is indicated for a period of 24 hours.

The rental price for 1 month is based on 30 calendar days.

The deposit for a passenger car is 5,000 baht, for SUVs, pickups, 7-seat cars and minivans – 7,000 baht.

There is a 3% surcharge when paying by card.

The rented car must be returned with the same fuel level as when renting, otherwise the calculation will be made at the price specified in the contract.

If the car is rented for less than 7 days, the mileage limit is 200 km/day. Additional kilometers are charged at 2 baht/km.

You can receive and return the car from 10.00 to 18.00.

Car delivery in Pattaya is free of charge for a rental period of 7 days or more.

When renting for a period of 4 to 6 days: Delivery within a certain area – 300 baht.

Delivery to Suvarnabhumi Airport (Bangkok) costs 1600 baht one way.

Delivery to Utapao Airport (Pattaya) costs 1000 baht one way.

In all other cases, delivery is carried out by agreement.

Pattaya Rent a Car

The car rental salon with a long history of work is located in South Pattaya in the Phra Tamnak hills.

The advantages of renting a car in this location include unlimited mileage.

In addition, worth noting is the free cancellation. Also, there is usually no prepayment required at the time of booking (but prepayment of the booking may be required during high season).

What is the amount of the deposit?

You need to make a deposit of 5000 baht. This amount will be refunded to you at the end of the rental, provided that the vehicle is returned in the same condition it was rented, minus normal wear and tear.

When should the car be returned?

Day rates are based on 24 hours, so if you rent at 10:00 am, you must return the car at 10:00 am on the return day. If you warn, you can return 2 hours later (grace period).

Can people other than the renter drive the car?

Additional drivers can be added to your rental at no extra charge.

There is free delivery within the city. Anything further can also be delivered free of charge, but depending on the length of the rental.

Can I return the car in another part of the country?

Returns to Utapao Airport or Suvarnabhumi Airport are allowed, but this must be agreed in advance and a service charge will apply.

Can I drive across the border?

No! The insurance becomes invalid, the coverage only covers Thailand, and you still cannot cross the border in a rental car (the car must be yours).
