Krabi is a Thai province located in southern Thailand. The province of Krabi attracts lovers of both beach holidays and lovers of beautiful views.

1. What transport can you use to get to Krabi? Transport of Krabi

Krabi can be reached by land (intercity buses), water (speed boats) and air (local flights as well as several international flights).

Krabi transport includes:

  • Krabi International Airport. Despite the name, there are not many international flights, mainly with neighboring countries in Southeast Asia. There are many flights within Thailand, especially to Bangkok.
  • Krabi Bus Terminal. Intercity bus station, there are direct routes to Phuket, connecting routes to Ko Samui, Ko Lipe and many other cities and places in Thailand.
  • Nopparat Thara Pier – water connection to Phuket
  • Sai Thai Klong Jilad Pier – water connections (fast boats and ferries) to the islands of Ko Phi Phi, Ko Jum, Ko Pu, Ko Lanta
  • Ao Nam Mao is the pier from which longtail boats depart for Railay. It should be noted that there is a large paid parking lot.
  • Ao Nang Boat Service Point – boats depart from here to nearby islands

Note: in addition to the indicated directions, the piers can serve other routes. At least on the piers I saw advertisements about routes to different destinations – I don’t know exactly how this is organized, perhaps at the pier you buy a combined ticket that includes transfer.

All these objects are located on the next map on the “Transport” layer.

Public transport includes buses that run on the Ao Nang-Airport route and back. This bus stops at several places along its route.

2. How to get to Krabi from another country

Krabi has Krabi International Airport. But as already mentioned, there are few direct international flights – mostly from neighboring countries. However, using the following form you can check direct flights as well as flights with transfers:

Please note that there are many flights between Krabi and Bangkok. Therefore, from another country you can get to Krabi by plane with a transfer in Bangkok. The flight search form given above will show both direct and the most convenient flights with a transfer through Bangkok.

3. How to get to Krabi from Bangkok

There are flights from Bangkok to Krabi, ticket prices start from 1,500 baht, travel time is up to 1.5 hours.

Those who want to save money can use buses. Bus tickets cost 800-1250 baht, travel time ranges from 14 hours to almost 20 hours.

You can check the schedule of flights and bus routes (including transfers), as well as buy tickets for them using the following form:

Please note that the buses are night buses, meaning they depart in the evening. From popular bus stations in Bangkok (Southern Terminal Bangkok and Mochit) there is only one route.

4. How to get to Krabi from Ko Lipe

The route from Ko Lipe includes a trip to the pier in Satun Province, and then an overland minivan to Krabi.

Such a combined ticket with connecting routes costs from 970 to 1200 baht. The journey takes from 5 hours 30 minutes to 6 hours.

You can find out the departure time, as well as order a ticket, including a transfer around Krabi, using the following form:

If you are wondering if there are direct route from Ko Lipe to Krabi by water without using a minivan, then the answer is “no”. This route is irrational – it takes almost the same time as the road using a minivan, but costs several times more.

That is, if there are some special reasons, you can get by water to Ko Lanta, but from here you will still be transferred to a minivan to Krabi. You can also get to Phuket and then transfer to a speedboat to Krabi, but you will not gain time and the total cost of the trip will unpleasantly surprise you.

5. How to get to Krabi from Phuket

Krabi and Phuket are connected by land and water.

The road from Phuket to Krabi in a minivan will take approximately 2.5-3.5 hours and will cost 300 baht (for an additional fee you can order a transfer around Krabi). Minivans depart from Phuket Bus Terminal 1.

Buses cost from 320 baht and the journey takes 3 hours (transfers within Krabi are not provided). Buses depart from Phuket Bus Terminal 2.

The journey by water will take 2 hours and cost 700 baht. The speedboat departs from Rassada Pier. In Krabi, boats arrive at Nopparat Thara Pier, Ao Nang. Before arriving in Krabi, the boat makes a stop at Railay. That is, if you wish, you can get off at Pier East Railay, in which case the ticket will cost 50 baht cheaper.

As you can see, travel time and ticket prices are low in both cases. That is, the choice of transport is a matter of personal preference.

You can check the route schedule using the following form, where you can also book a ticket from Phuket to Krabi:

6. How to get to Krabi from Railay

Strictly speaking, Railay is already part of Krabi, but I think you understand what is meant.

The main pier is located at Railay East Beach. From here boats depart regularly to Krabi and arrive at Ao Nam Mao. There is a floating pier, which is convenient for boarding and disembarking people.

Boat tickets sold online are specific to Railay East. When purchasing tickets online, you can book a transfer around Krabi.

Railay West also has boats that go to Ao Nang. There is no pier as such, so you'll likely get your feet wet when loading into the boat when departing and arriving.

There are not many passengers here and you will need to wait until there are enough people to send the boat.

In short, the main departure point for Krabi is Railay East.

Please note that there are several shipping companies operating here (even if all the boats look the same to you). Therefore, if you already have a ticket, then show it to the pier workers and follow their instructions. If someone is loading onto the boat and they don’t let you through, then this is just not your carrier and you need to wait a little.

A little tip: using the following form you can buy a ticket from Railay to Krabi, and you can additionally book a transfer around Krabi. An online ticket also guarantees that your place on the boat is registered. But the ticket will be a little more expensive than buying a ticket directly at the pier.

One more tip: If you're hoping that an online ticket will give you an advantage when boarding the boat and save you time, it doesn't always work as intended. With an online ticket you will need to find your carrier and wait for it to depart, but the 100 baht note will be accepted by any carrier with available seats.

The ticket price is 950 baht. The minivan departs from Pattaya T Tour Station (this is the bus station near the Bali Hai Pier ferry). The minivan arrives in Bangkok at the Mochit bus station. You will then have time (2 hours 15 minutes) to catch the next bus to Krabi. The bus will arrive in Krabi the next day. Travel time: 1 day, 1 hour.

For reference: the island of Ko Lanta belongs to the province of Krabi. Therefore, below is information on how to get from the island of Ko Lanta to the city of Krabi on the mainland.

Ko Lanta is an island, but this island is located next to the mainland and a ferry constantly runs between the mainland and the island, which also transports vehicles. The ferry runs very often – as soon as it is filled with transport, it departs immediately. That is, it is almost a bridge.
